June 2012: No Guitar Excuses Month

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Learn & Master Guitar Family,

I want to invite you to join me for the month of June to take your practicing, your learning, and your playing up to the next level. It's been on my heart for a while to set aside a specific time to really focus on kicking up your guitar game a notch. So, let’s avoid the “New Year’s Resolution” rush and do it in June!

Personally, I know there are some areas in my playing that I wanted to improve, some techniques I've been wanting to learn but haven't gotten around to yet, and a few playing experiences that I know would be good for me to do. I've procrastinated long enough and it's time to buckle down, kick my musical self a bit, and get to work.

I invite you to join me.

Here are the two simple things you need to do.

1) Set a realistic goal for the month for your guitar learning. Deliberately focus on an area of your playing that you want to improve. Then, give it all you got for the month of June.

2) Play guitar in a new playing experience. Find a new outlet for your playing. Do something that you haven't done before. It has to be a guitar playing experience that you have never done. Join a community jam session, play a gig with friends, or play for your church or charitable organization - something new that will stretch you musically.

You can write your goals down or keep up with others on our discussion board and in live lessons. There's something about writing down a goal that helps you reach it. I've started this new section of the discussion board just for this month. You can see it here…  I'll try to post encouragements and progress along the way.

I realize June has started but it is not too late to join in. Take a minute and think of some personal guitar goals for this month and give it all you got.  I look forward to hearing all of the great things that you accomplish.  No more excuses! Let’s get started!
